feathers

Caleb didn't nap at all today.  Ok so maybe he did, but it was only 45 minutes long.  I took him to the store to tire him out. Didn't work. All he wanted to do was play with this cat toy all day.

Easter Weekend

Caleb's trying to get Grampy's glasses at church
It's a big Polish tradition to have one's Easter basket blessed on Saturday. There are lots of things that are staples in the basket such as Polish sausages, eggs, butter, a sugar lamb, and of course bread.
Caleb loved this darn bread and thank goodness it was wrapped up because he couldn't put it down.
Our first Easter with a new teether from the Easter bunny.

I realize that I suck at capturing photos that depicted our wonderful day.  There are so many that I should have taken but I was just so wrapped up in everything.

Happy Easter

I'll be back with pics tonight, but in the meantime, Happy Easter from Caleb.

true dat

Re blogged from Tupelohoney

This is what I need to learn to live by more often rather than feeling sorry for myself.

bubble bath

Or rather, bubbles in the bath.  I decided to see what Caleb thought of bubbles floating around, and with the weather not nice enough to try this outside for a good period of time, I thought we should try the bath!

Caleb pretty much stared in wonder at the bubbles I was blowing.  They would get close to him, and he would reach out his little hand to try to touch them.

Precious.

oh and pardon the variances in the edits here.  I was practicing, and couldn't remember what I did in the first photo to apply it to the rest.  Oopsies.

who's this

You see, the past few weeks, Caleb has been waking 3-5 times a night and being relentless!  He would cry non stop until he was in my arms, then like magic he stopped.  I go to put my quiet sleeping baby back in his crib, and just as I start to bend over he starts crying again.  I was losing my mind, and the mister and I were at each other's throats constantly because we were so tired.

We tried it all, co-sleeping, Tylenol, teething stuff, gas drops, rocking, nursing to sleep (which was the only thing that worked), sleeping in the swing, doctor visits, etc...  Caleb had slept through the night, off an on, for a few month,s so I knew he was capable of doing it. Then suddenly he just stopped and turned into a very beastly boy.

But, yesterday we tried something new.  We put him down for a nap at 5:30.  He slept for an hour and 15 min.  When he woke, he nursed, ate "dinner", got a bath and then a few min of play time.  We gave him some Tylenol for his teeth, just in case, he also got some homeopathic teething gel and gas drops before I read him a story.  I then put him in his crib awake, turned on his light show, and closed the door.

He woke up this morning at 7:15am.  The mister and I got to sleep all night.  Caleb woke to a very light fuss for 3 min at 2am.  He stopped before we decided to let him fuss for another minute or 2.  I am one happy mama today.

We are on the same track today.  I so hope we have a repeat and just adding that 3rd nap in the early evening is all that he needed.  We feel like we won a medal at the Olympics finally getting him to sleep peacefully without doing any CIO stuff.

I don't want to jinx anything though, I'm still on edge and nervous that this is just a fluke.  All I can do is hope for the best and pray.

8 months

Yea yea ya, I know it's been a long time.  Sorry, but Caleb has been a beast at night all week and I have no energy for anything.  Better late than never though right?

Caleb is 8 whole months!  He is such a happy little dude.  He can do so much.
  • Caleb is around 20.5 pounds
  • He wears size 12-18 months clothes
  • Caleb does not sleep through the night most nights, but we occasionally are graced with a night here or there.
  • He eats about 5oz of breastmilk per feeding (about 4-5 feedings a day) and then 3 meals of solids per day after his nursing session or bottle if he's at the sitter.  Caleb is eating about every 4 hours or so.
  • Caleb LOVES bananas, sweet potatoes, avocado, pears, apples, oatmeal, frozen peaches in his mesh feeder, prunes, mango, green beam pear apple blend, and squash.  He does not like peas at all.  He actually gags on them, even when I try to sneak them in with good stuff.
  • Caleb is sooo close to crawling and can move his legs forward and back, but he just has not combined that with his arms yet.  He does a great job scooting around and crawling backwards.
  • He loves to stand up on my lap and bounce.

    Sunday wonderful

I've been a bit MIA this week and uninspired by the rather dull and rainy weather we had.

But the sun was out and bright today, shining away.

Our Sunday went a little something like this...

Caleb loved wearing his sunglasses today and even wore them in his car seat while we were out and about.
Enjoying the sunshine but trying to stay in the shade as well.

    Buds

Caleb meeting his new buddy, Joshua, for the first time.  I think Caleb was a little more excited than Joshua.  Little do they know that they are going to be Lake Geneva buddies this summer.

    Happy Birthday

to my sweetheart, my baby's daddy, Brian.

You are an amazing spirit that radiates kindness like no one I have ever known,

You don't judge others based on what they look like, do for a living, or anything else frivolous for that matter,

You see the simple joy in everything and always look at the positives,

You have showed me how to find the beauty in what's on the inside,

Together, we have given life to the most beautiful soul, our son, and I will forever be grateful for that gift.

Happy Birthday to you, my sweet love, today I celebrate all that is you!

    Love,
    Your Baby Girl

    clap clap

The quality of this video is very meager when I downloaded it from my phone, nonetheless it still shows off Caleb's newest trick.

Not only did he get his first 2 teeth, said his first word, mama, he learned to clap.

What a week it has been for this little man.

    ode to sis

I feel like a part of me has been left behind since you left today.

Our relationship is a very close one that only other sisters who share such a bond can understand.

I am reliving the fun times we shared this week exchanging fashion tips and beauty advice.  I will miss your pointers for sure!  I need to remember to tuck :-)

Caleb will miss his Auntie G and looks forward to the next Skype sesh soon.

I will think of you as I wake up tonight to Caleb's cries and will be jealous that you are sleeping soundly in your bed in the quiet.
