work shower 4-29-10
I was overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and generosity at my work shower today. Here a few of the pictures where I don't look like a total freak. It's weird but I just don't take good pictures.

25 weeks
So I'm not wearing makeup and look like a freak, but I hope you get a laugh anyways. We went to meet the midwife today and it went great! She is really great and we all hit it off right away. I go in next week for an ultrasound to see if my placenta has moved up yet. If not, no biggie they will recheck at a later date. Baby's heart rate was 144bpm and it was moving like crazy, it actually kicked at the doppler, it was pretty funny.
How far along?: 25 weeks
•Current Weight: 139
•Total weight gain: 19 pounds, I am soooo happy with that. I thought it would be way more from all the chocolate I have been inhaling. I'm up just 3 pounds from last month.
•How big is baby?: about 11 inches and 1 1/4 lbs according to what the website and books say it should be this week.
•Maternity clothes?: Anytime I'm at a store I have to look to see what's new in the maternity section. This mama has to be styling at all times.
•Stretch marks?: None, yay. But the buddah is soooo itchy
•Sleep?: Up all night going pee and then worrying if I'm sleeping ok b/c I wake up with numb hands sometimes from laying on one side so much.
•Movement?: Karate chops all day and night. I love it.
•Food cravings?: usually chocolate after lunch but good organic fruit is the best.
•Labor signs?: Zilch
•Belly button in or out?: It's coming out more and more, especially when I laugh it pokes in and out. It's pretty amusing to watch. Today I just stared and observed my buddah in the mirror for a while and was just in awe of the changes.
•What I miss: Nothing much really, just a martini.
•What I'm looking forward to: my ultrasound next week to see if my placenta decided to stop being stubborn and move.
•Milestone: I made it past vitality day (v-day) at 24 weeks, if the baby came early the doctors would do everything they could to save the baby because it is considered viable.

lines
Saturday we decided to go check out this huge baby consignment sale about 45 min from out home. We arrived shortly after it had opened, and were immediately taken aback by the huge line that was formed outside the door. We decided that we made the trip so we might as well tough it out in the damp cool weather. We waited in line for an hour and finally were able to enter the facility. We saw people coming out with all sorts of cool things when we were waiting in line. Much to our disappointment what we saw on the inside was a bunch of garbage. Things were dirty, and all the good stuff was gone. We spend about 10 minutes looking around and left extremely bummed!

24 weeks!
Here's the Buddah at 24 weeks. I feel great and have no complaints. I recently switched to a new practice. I will be seeing 2 midwives instead of being just a "number" at my old practice. I see them on Tuesday and am very excited for the change. I also have a lot more options for my birth experience at the new hospital.
houses
Going to look at some houses this week since we got screwed last week. I hope the one we look at tonight is as cute on the inside as it is on the outside because it is located right where we want to live.

Bradley classes
B and I started our 12 weeks course on natural childbirth through the Bradley Method. We LOVE it so far. We were amazed at the wealth of information we were given. I have always been drawn to a more organic and natural lifestyle including seeing a natural health doctor and therefore feel this is just a natural transition for me. I am happy to be educating myself on all the unnecessary medical interventions that are so often used so that I can make the right choice for my baby and me.

Christy
Me and my dear friend Christy have known each other for 9 years. We met when I was student teaching, and she just started her first year teaching. Since then we moved to the same school after a year of working apart and have been friends since. It is so nice to have such a dear friend to be pregnant with, both our first, and share all of our ups and downs during our journeys to becoming mothers.
Here we are at her work shower the other day. Only 4 more weeks to go for her!
shock
So we are suppose to move in 2 weeks. We have all the boxes ready to go and then I get a call from the person we are going to rent from and he tells me that the deal on his end for his new house may not go through and we should start looking for another place just in case. We're devastated and so pissed.

Buddha Belly
This is my view now. Great! I can't even see my cute shoes by just looking down anymore.
B finally felt the baby move on Tuesday night while we were watching LOST. I was actually surprised that he felt it because baby wasn't kicking any harder than usual when he couldn't feel it. Must have been just the right angle. So I then got so excited and utterly giddy with screams and tears that I scared the baby off for the rest of the night!
Last night we were lying in bed and he had his hand on the Buddha and it was cute because both of us said at the same time, "That was one". He felt a couple good ones. I'm so happy that he can feel the baby now, there's something so magical about that.

lunch lady
So I forgot my lunch today for work. It contained my oatmeal breakfast, milk, banana, orange, granola bar, and my lunch. I was devastated and cried like a little girl. So I go down to my cafe to get some fruit to eat. The lunch lady looked and me and said oh I think I might have an orange. She checked and came back and said no. Then 2 hours later lunch is being served, and what do the kids have on their trays but oranges!! Who looks a starving pregnant lady in the face and says we have no fruit????
