lunch

So this is how we spent some of our day today. We made lunch together like this since this is the only way I can get some things accomplished. Caleb loves being in his Moby Wrap snuggled close to his mama.

Weekend

This weekend we spent some time at Lake Geneva with good friends. We decided to wear our babies and we both loved it. Lyz and I wore our babes and the daddies pushed the empty strollers behind us. We had lunch, then walked along the lake, went for ice cream and then strolled around some shops. It was very crowded this weekend and it was pretty hot, but it was Caleb's first trip to the lake and he loved spending time with his "girlfriend" Aubrey :-)

2 weeks!

Caleb is 2 weeks old today and I must say that the time has come very quickly. I love his little wiggly toes, big gummy grins when he sleeps, the way he shoots his arms up in the air when he startles himself, and the way he looks at me when he nurses. Mama loves you very much xo!

oops!

So our friends Brian and Sarah invited us out to the concert in the park that is held in our local town every Thursday night. So we pack up our stuff and head over to their house, gather everybody, bundle up the babies and walk on down to the park. We get there and guess what? No concert! Oops! I guess it is over for the summer, we thought it went through Labor Day. So we sat outside and had our picnic anyway, and hung out with our babies.

Dr.

Yesterday we went to our first Dr. appointment. Caleb weighed in at 8 pounds and 11 ounces! He already surpassed his birth weight which was 8.9 lbs and he was only 11 days old. He measured 22 inches long. We believe the hospital didn't measure his length correctly at birth because he was kicking his legs and there is no way that he grew an inch and a half in 11 days. Caleb received a clean bill of health! His little boy bits have healed up nicely and his belly stump came off. I wasn't going to save it, but the nurse told me that she saved hers because it's what attached her to her baby and I then changed my mind and took it home. It will go in the baby book :-)

1 week

Caleb is 1 week old today and already time is going by way too fast. I snuggled him in my arms on the glider and told him about his BIRTH day.

It's a boy!

I have been a bad blogger! After a scary few days with a fever caused by a bladder infection, to being induced and having some hairy moments, we welcomed Caleb Rodenkirch via c-section Friday the 13th of August at 9:09pm. He weighed in at 8.9lbs and is 20.5in. long. He is so beautiful and that is what everyone tells us. So here are some pictures...I will update more as I have some time and energy.

40 weeks

Ahhh 40 weeks finally, but where's the baby? I think this one is stubborn like its mama so it's just not coming out. Hopefully this week baby will come, just not on Friday the 13th because if not, then Monday I will be induced...My sister leaves on Thursday next week so this baby better not be too stubborn so she can spend a lot of time with it.

• weight gain: Happy to say it is 35 pounds not 50 like I had thought :-)

•How big is baby?: 8.5 pounds according to growth u/s today, but could also be as low as 7 3/4 pounds due to 10% inaccuracy rate.

•Due date: August 10th, but we're hoping this week, please please baby!

•Progress: dilated 1.5-2 cm

•Sleep?: I want to kill myself! Sleep sucks, I am in so my pain from sleeping on my sides, hips and pelvis feel broken when I wake up.

•Movement?: constant, this is one active baby. Boy are we in for a treat!

•Food cravings?: chocolate desserts and gelato, I have yet to get some gelato though

•Next apt: Friday, Aug. 13th

•Belly button in or out?: out and just weird looking and scary, yikes. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have the darn belly ring hole/scar that looks looks like a Picasso painting.

•What I miss: sleeping comfortably and buying cute summer clothes.

•What I'm looking forward to: This baby!!!!!!!!!

•Feelings: Ready, bring it!!

update

This baby is never coming out! Cervix is thinning but still high and closed. I'll be 40 weeks on Tuesday, so Monday they want me to come in for an NST (non stress test) and then Thursday again for another ultrasound to check the fluid level. Then we will go from there. No induction talk yet which is great but I'm sure they'll be bringing up options on my Thursday appointment.

Today, I'm just spending time with my sis and hubby at the farmer's market, a movie, and dinner. Trying to walk this little baby out.
